Increasing digitization and changes in the tourism information space and usage patterns are affecting the traditional operations of tourism information centres maintained by municipalities. On-site information services are becoming more and more exclusive. At the same time, the local destination management trends are also changing, outlining the growing role of entrepreneurs, decentralization of destination strategies, more active networking and targeted monitoring of performance indicators. In the case of Latvia, the administrative-territorial reform creates additional relevance, as it will partially change the current practices in the management of local destinations. How to understand changes and adapt accordingly? How to use them for the development of the sector? Answers to these questions will be discussed in this story during Vidzeme Innovation Week. Municipality tourism specialists, representatives of tourism business NGOs and those involved in the management and marketing of tourism destinations are invited to listen to the lecture.
